Renewable microColumn and UV-VIS Spectrometry
Coupling a miniaturized renewable column with any detector presents a challenge, since in order to minimize peak broadening the void volume between the column and flow cell must be minimized. This has been achieved in this construction in a unique by using one of the optical fibers to retain the beads (Erxleben 2005). In this way the analyte is eluted from the microcolumn into the flow cell through the 15mm gap between the optical fiber cladding and channel wall.
